Hop & Jans Studio is a Seattle-based design studio founded by Laura Hoppenjans, offering a range of lighting, tableware, and other home goods.

Laura Hoppenjans (she/they) is an interdisciplinary artist and designer, and currently makes and designs all of the pieces featured on this site. With a formal education in fine art, focusing on ceramics, printmaking & photography, followed by a MPA studying Global Policy and Gender, Laura likes to examine the balance of form versus function and its relationship to craft and traditional ‘women's work’. Using traditional processes, Laura plays with the tension between graphic qualities of surface pattern and the nature of form, exploring the political weight of domestic objects and the often-overlooked labor associated with them

She has lived and worked in 6 countries, including the United States, Australia, Morocco, South Korea, Ethiopia, and México. These experiences living and traveling have informed her knowledge of traditional craft and pop culture, and are major influences on her current work in ceramics.
